Practice Staff
Our staff will treat you with respect at all times. We request that they receive the same respect from visitors and callers to the practice.
Practice Manager
Our Practice Manager is responsible for non-medical aspects of healthcare and practice administration. Any comments, suggestions or complaints should be referred to the Practice Manager.
Business Manager
Our Business Manager is responsible for all the Financial Accounting for the Practice.
Marketing Manager
Our Marketing Manager is responsible for communicating the many services we offer to our patients.
Practice Nurses
Our nurses at Balance Street run the treatment rooms and provide traditional nursing duties. These include cervical cytology, family planning, dressings, immunisations, travel advice, suture removals. They also provide chronic disease clinics including Diabetes, Healthy Heart and Hypertension.
Health Care Assistants
Our Health Care Assistants provide a supporting role to the clinical staff in the Health Centre. They are responsible for the taking of blood and ECG's (a heart trace) and also assist in other clinics when required.
Dispensers
Our dispensers are responsible for dispensing medication prescribed to patients living over one mile from a pharmacy. From time to time they may ask you to see your Doctor for a medication review. Please see The Practice page for further details of services provided in the practice Dispensary.
Receptionists
Our Receptionists are there to help you and your family. They run a busy reception following the directives of the Practice. Any information provided to our Receptionists will remain confidential at all times.
Secretary and Administrative Support
Our Secretaries provide an important role in assisting the Doctors. They are responsible, amongst other things, for preparing referral letters, recording hospital attendances and preparation of medical reports. Our Administrative staff also ensures invites are issued to patients when required for chronic disease clinics.

Outreach Clinics
We have five Consultants running Outreach Clinics here at Balance Street Health Centre, offering monthly and bi-weekly clinics. These not only provide a quality Consultant led service, but also offer continuity of care.
Balance Street Health Centre is ideally located, with a large council car park adjacent to the building. Improved access means reduced travel time and distance for our patients, and those in neighbouring practices.
Mr Mark Hamlet -
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon FRCSMr Hamlet has over twenty years of orthopaedic experience and offers a wide range of procedures, with a special interest in shoulder and knee arthroscopic (keyhole) and open surgery.
Mr Sanjay Mulay –
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon MBBS MS(Orth) DNB (Orth) MCh (Orth) FRCSG FRCS (Orth)Mr Mulay is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, offering a wide array of procedures including hip, foot and knee surgery.
Mr John Oates –
Consultant ENT Surgeon MB ChB, FRCSMr Oates is a General Adult and Paediatric ENT surgeon with specialist interest in Otology/surgery for chronic ear disease, including reconstructive surgery of the middle ear, laser surgery of the middle ear and the management of Otosclerosis.
Mr Stelios Vakis –
General Surgery Consultant MB BSMr Vakis is a General Surgeon specialising in the areas of Coloproctology, Colorectal Cancer, Abdominal Surgery and General Surgery. At the Balance Street Health Centre Clinic Mr Vakis deals with minor surgical procedures, such as Banding, Sigmoidoscopy and Proctoscopy.
Mrs Rosemary Corfield –
Consultant Urologist Surgeon MB ChB FRCSMrs Corfield’s Clinical Practice is in General Adult Urology with a special interest in Female Urology and Incontinence.
